I am pleased to announce the inclusion of my artworks by the SOMA gallery in Vancouver. I am looking forward to showing my work there and to developing new associations with Vancouver friends and patrons of the arts.
The elegantly designed gallery has become a touchstone in the dynamic arts community taking root in the South Main district of Vancouver, which has itself been bolstered by the migration of some of the city’s top galleries into adjacent neighborhoods. South Main Gallery has established itself as an integral part of this vibrant community, and offers a wide range of contemporary art, featuring works by emerging, mid-career and established Canadian and international artists. Located at 279 E 6th Ave., Vancouver B.C.
Although I am always supported by a base of previous achievement that provides continuity, I try to be watchful of new tracks to explore. It's what keeps the process alive for me. This exhibition provides some insight into my explorations resulting in a somewhat eclectic solo show. Yours to enjoy in all the mysterious wonder I encountered. At Martin Batchelor Gallery.
A mixed media approach to abstract painting will provide greater intensity and compelling interest in any finished piece. The course will focus on incorporating the painting techniques of texture, dry-brush, and glazing, three skills that can synergistically enhance abstract painting adding a tactile element to surface rendering. The visual study of textures in nature, architecture, and formalism will be some sources of inspiration. Suitable for all levels.
Registration is now open on the Missa website.

I think of works like these as drawings as the entire field is created with line, quite different from my acrylic canvases.
The AGGV Massey Gallery is doing something unique this holiday season. They invited 20 "exceptional", local artists to participate in their annual Christmas Show, artists with successful affiliation with the Rental & Sales program. Isn't that interesting? You will see 2 or 3 of my oil drawings (see left) as well as work from other invited artists. The show or what's left of it after the opening on November 26, 2015 continues to January 4, 2016 .

Here I am at the opening of Doubletake in good company with my painting Ludwig's Ninth which of course was Beethoven's piece, Ode to Joy. It is the central feeling behind all of these paintings which I consider to be more like drawings. Abstract drawing is one of my favorite practices. These works were all created on metal plates. They were a great departure from my previous painting process in the medium of acrylic on canvas. I do beleive these drawings will influence subsequent paintings and am delighted to begin in a somewhat new direction!
